ABSTRACT
The article examines the impact of the proposed reduction in Medicare reimbursements in the United States. Investors believe that the proposal could affect Medicare's future profitability. It could also lead to ratings downgrades for some of the companies affected by the proposal. This action prompted Standard & Poor's and Moody's to threaten to downgrade the debt of three privately held companies. They include LifeCare Holdings, Select Medical Corp. and Triumph Healthcare LLC.
