The article presents information on the renovations and makeover undergone by various hotels in the U.S. To mark the hotel's 100th anniversary, the Saint Regis New York is getting a makeover. Local design firm Sills Huniford, known mostly for its work with Tina Turner and Vera Wang, is giving the hotel's 256 guestrooms and suites a modern, elegant look with crystal chandeliers, marble bathrooms, silk draped canopy beds, and two luxurious color schemes. In an attempt to target Generation X, Sofitel is bringing in top designers, chefs, and operators to renovate its properties into total hotel experiences. The landmark Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, originally designed and built in 1956 by renowned architect Morris Lapidus, recently got a facelift of its main lobby, trademark stair-to-nowhere, ballrooms, conference rooms, and pool area. The historic Los Angeles hotel, the Roosevelt, recently got a modern look from local designer Dodd Mitchell. Guestrooms at the Millennium Broadway in New York City recently underwent a $12 million renovation, courtesy of local firm Stonehill & Taylor.
