ABSTRACT
The article reports on the role of birds and birds sounds in the making of the movie "The New World." The production contacted the Macaulay Library at Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology, which houses the largest collection of animal sounds in the world. Sound engineers took the challenge of finding a Carolina Parrot stand-in. A number of bird species are represented in the final film.
