ABSTRACT
The article reports on the speculations by that enterprise spending for technologies related to financial compliance and corporate governance could account for as much as 15 percent of the typical information technology budget in 2006. Research predicts that these compliance costs will drain money from discretionary IT spending. Projects that were not aligned with the said compliance and corporate governance were delayed or cancelled. In addition, the Sarbanes-Oxley efforts inhibited the purchase of large amounts of software related to building new technologies.
