Advanced AC Drives Key to Innovative Rooftop Hybrid Air-Conditioning Units

January 2006
Heating/Piping/Air Conditioning Engineering;Jan2006, Vol. 78 Issue 1, p68
The article presents information on Revolution, a rooftop hybrid air-conditioning unit developed by SEMCO Inc. This paper discusses how Revolution combines the strength of an advanced direct-expansion cooling cycle with the unique dehumidification capability of an active-desiccant wheel. Moreover, the use of Yaskawa E7 alternating current drives manufactured by Yaskawa Electric America Inc. in this hybrid air-conditioning unit is mentioned. This paper also presentes the advantages of the installation of this technology to Timber Ridge Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia.
