ABSTRACT
The article reports on the agreement of federal lawmakers in the U.S. to tentatively drop a proposal to explicitly entitle children with attention-deficit disorders to special education services. Although not legally binding, the wording in of the proposal could have expanded the federal definition of an eligible special education category to include the disorder. Under the terms of a tentative agreement, the controversial language would be eliminated from the final report on the bill.
