ABSTRACT
This article describes a New York, N.Y. woman's contemplation of the gardens of her divorced parents. The father's garden is tidy, with vegetables growing in straight rows, flowers around the borders, symmetrical wooden frames, and terraces with walls of smooth white rock. The mother's garden does not make distinctions between vegetables, flowers, and herbs, with pepper interspersed with parsley, eggplant, and onions.
