ABSTRACT
The article provides an insight into chemoprevention of colorectal cancer from the Nurses Health Study. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer and randomized controlled trials have suggested that aspirin reduces the recurrence of colonic adenomas in those undergoing colonoscopy surveillance. But the dose of aspirin and duration of therapy required to reduce colorectal cancer risk is uncertain. In the study it was noted that the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding increased more in patients who did not take aspirin than in patients who took the aspirin.
