ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to extend the deadline for service providers to confirm that all of their customers understand voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) emergency-calling capabilities and limitations until November 28, 2005. The federal regulator's Enforcement Bureau delayed the commission requirement that VoIP carriers receive acknowledgements about basic and enhanced 911 conditions from 100 percent of their users.
