ABSTRACT
The article reports on the dominance of China in the U.S. apparel and textile import market in November 2005. According to the Commerce Department, the imports contributed to an overall trade deficit of $18.5 billion with China. The emergence of China as dominant player in apparel and textile offers benefits to consumers. European Union member states support a proposal not to grant market economy status to Chinese footwear exporters.
