ABSTRACT
This article presents information on developments related to baseball in the U.S. 1B Todd Helton and OFs Adam Dunn and Brian Giles were among the big names left off the Team USA provisional roster for the World Baseball Classic. A warning to the Pittsburgh Pirates fans who are excited by the acquisitions of 1B Sean Casey, 3B Joe Randa and RF Jeromy Burnitz: Casey ranked 37th in on-base/slugging percentage last season, Randa was 40th and Burnitz 50th. Pitching remains the Arizona Diamondbacks' biggest concern, but the trade of 3B Troy Glaus and the team's commitment to 1B Conor Jackson means Arizona will be losing 67 home runs.
