WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH . . . Voting for the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Dillon, Dennis
February 2006
Sporting News;2/3/2006, Vol. 230 Issue 5, p10
The article focuses on criteria to select football players for the Hall of Fame. The person must have been connected with pro football in some capacity--and betting on it doesn't count. Anyone can nominate a candidate by writing to the Hall of Fame, but the Hall's director assures that minimum criteria are met before candidates are placed on each year's ballot. To be eligible, a player must be in retirement for at least five years and a coach simply needs to be retired. Baseball's Hall of Fame has more voters than the House of Representatives has seats.
