ABSTRACT
The article offers a look at the ISA-95 and ISA-88 standards of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA) in the U.S. in January 2006. Such standards may sound like competing with each other because both focuses on planning and schedules. But these standards actually complement each other. Most control vendors make use of the ISA-88 standard as a pattern to determine their batch system. ISA-95 is a standard with logical models. It does not tell a person how he has to build his facility in order to use the standard.
