Wireless SCADA Gains Foothold

The article deals with the application by U.S. manufacturers of wireless supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology in January 2006. Frank Williams, vice president of Elpro Technologies, said that manufacturers began to apply wireless technologies in order to resolve their problem of long-distance, data-collection. He added that manufacturers need to access, digest, and learn from corporate and logistical information in order to be players in the competitive international market. Gerald Niemi, product line manager of B&B Electronics Manufacturing Co., said that the adoption of wireless SCADA has consisted of various deployments and various things.
