ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the celebration of the POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 19, 2005 which honors the commitment and sacrifices of prisoners of wars and those who are still missing in action. The Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office is tasked to recovery and identify the remains of Americans who never returned from foreign battlefields and those who are isolated, captured, detained or missing. An estimated 78,000 Americans are missing from World War II.
