ABSTRACT
The author comments on the December 2005 editorial of "The Canadian Medical Association Journal," which focused on the relationship between guideline authors and the health care industry. The author asserts that the editorial contained a number of important misstatements and errors, particularly on the guideline development by the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA). One error by the journal is its misrepresentation that the CDA as recommending that glargine be used as an alternative for generic long-acting insulin.
