ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the use of cameraphones as scanners to read barcodes and business cards in the U.S. The first handset that has the feature is the A800 from Samsung which scans contact information on business cards and create contact on the phone's system. According to Muzib Khan, vice president of product management and engineering for Samsung mobile phones, the company has the capability to make its handset a scanning device for Web site uniform resource locators. Nextcode Corp. is planning to put scanning feature on its handsets.
