ABSTRACT
The article discusses the contradictory media standards applied to candidates Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cruz Bustamante, Mixican immigrants, which explains the inequality by referring to Anglo anxieties about race relations and immigration. They suggest the racial politics of the 1990 and discuss the irony of Schwarzenegger's anti-immigrant campaign. Minority candidates should stay away from racial issues to win political office.
