ABSTRACT
The article discusses various aspects of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) in the United States. NIMS was developed after the 2001 terrorist attacks to outline coordinated response to disasters and emergencies. Operational control, leadership, planning, logistics and finance are described. The Emergency Management Institute has developed a NIMS course for training fire fighters, emergency medical personnel and other responders.
