ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Philip C. Stittleburg, chairman of the National Volunteer Fire Council in the United States, has released an open letter responding to articles in the "Newsday" newspaper alleging that volunteer fire services on Long Island are spending funds frivolously. Stittleburg stated that the Foremen's Association of the State of New York has denied the charges. He also explained fire services' funding and the Fire Corps program with fire departments.
