In '66, the champs couldn't sing their song

The article shares views of author on the conduct of basketball players in 1960s and how the film "Glory Road" relates to it. The film tells a basketball story that begins with cacti, armadillos and vagabonds in the great outback of west Texas. The film isn't true in every fact, but it's true in every heartbeat. On March 19, 1966, basketball player Nevil Shed, recruited to the desert out of the South Bronx, made a free throw that gave Texas Western College a 10-9 lead over Kentucky in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Basketball Championship game. The film, being a film, comes heavy with race during the 1966 NCAA Tournament.
