ABSTRACT
The article analyzes reasons behind the job security witnessed by basketball coaches. Maybe it's because of all the turnover in recent years. Maybe it's because a handful of coaches--Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Jerry Sloan, Gregg Popovich, Nate McMillan among them--are untouchable or at least have contracts that make them untouchable. Maybe it's because some of the new coaches--such as Mike Brown, Terry Stotts and Avery Johnson--have been doing such solid jobs.
