ABSTRACT
The article discusses the significance of Neapolitan philosopher Giovanni Battista Vico's writings to Giovanni Battista Tiepolo's painting "Allegory of the Power of Eloquence." Vico's ideas about mythology and natural law formed the basis of one of Tiepolo's most important and enigmatic painting in the still privately owned Palazzo Sandi.
