ABSTRACT
The article looks at how Afghanistan's drug trade is threatening the country's stability. The author reviews how the rule of law is under attack by an organization of warlords and drug smugglers that spans the country and transcends its ethnic divisions. Statistics related to drug trade's influence on the Afghan economy are reviewed. Opium addiction has become widespread. The anti-narcotic efforts of President Hamid Karzai are discussed.
