ABSTRACT
The article presents views and perspectives of the author on steam-powered electric generation in New York City. The author cited several cases of misconceptions of steam power. The historical background of the New York Steam Co. is presented. Furthermore, the author talks with Manhattan Division of Steam and Technical Services manager Charles P. Menges and steam-distribution engineer Richard T. Higgins regarding the management of Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc.'s steam-distribution system.
