ABSTRACT
The article profiles Ray Detrick, IT manager, the Sagamore resort, Bolton Landing, New York, and Steve Jenks, IT manager, Sheraton Sand Key resort, Clearwater Beach, Florida. Detrick worked up through the ranks like many in food and beverage, and then moved into IT over time. Detrick said the most interesting days are when he is managing multiple projects. Jenks, on the other hand, is with hotel since its time of inception in 1975. He installed the first computer system in 1978 and remembers the property being on the forefront of hotel technology since there weren't many systems installed back then. Jenks said he is not one to be a pack-rat due to space limitations, but makes a point to read every issue of the journal "Hospitality Upgrade."
