The EHR Paradox

The article informs that the authors Michael Sachs and Rosemarie Nelson addresses the challenge of building a compelling business case for the electronic health records (EHR) as well as providing necessary resources. The paradox in many of the EHR or electronic medical record (EMR) return on investment (ROI) analyses done is that the overwhelming majority of the savings comes from the most sophisticated, complex, and expensive systems. The intermediate level of sophistication provides seven times the basic level annual benefit and the advanced level returns over 15 times the basic annual benefit.
