ABSTRACT
The article focuses on Serratia marcescens septicemia presenting as purpura fulminans in a premature newborn. Serratia marcescens has been recognized as a cause of infection in adult, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. The study suggests that Serratia marcescens should be considered as a potential cause of neonatal purpura fulminans.
