This article profiles the late Sergeant Patrick Gass, the third leader of the historic Meri-wether Lewis and William Clark expedition through the Pacific Ocean and back from a starting point just above St. Louis, Missouri. Portions of the book written by Gass regarding the expedition has been presented. A background on his military career is given.
