ABSTRACT
The article reports that New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), the investment subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Co., is planning to launch four equity hedge funds in 2006. NYLIM's equity hedge fund business has not been as successful as compared to its fixed-income hedge funds business. The move to launch equity hedge funds represents the first concerted effort on the part of NYLIM to ramp up its equity hedge fund offerings. A representative of the company said that the expansion of the hedge funds portfolio will help NYLIM in getting out in front of a changing market.
