ABSTRACT
The article presents a reprint of the article "I Don't Want to Go to School," by Peg Porter, which appeared in the March 1959 issue of "Parent's Magazine." It discusses some reasons why children do not want to go to school in the United States. A child feels at a loss with a particular subject and suffer agonies of embarassment every time it comes up in the day's program. A physical handicap can cause a child to want to remain at home rather than mingle with other children who may laugh at him and tease him. Children suffering from school phobia have problems which have become too much for them and which they are trying to solve in a way that does them harm.
