ABSTRACT
The article discusses whether nurses should be taught to give sex education as part of pre-registration training. It suggests that health promotion and education, including sex education, should definitely he part of student training as Great Britain has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in western Europe. It argues that some training in this area would allow nurses to give basic information and reassurance to patients, but it should not be seen as a core activity. It reports that nurses are often expected to teach sexual health without formal training or support.
