June 1975
National Review;6/20/1975, Vol. 27 Issue 23, p653
The article reports that the "New York Review of Books" devoted a large part of its June 12, 1975 issue to a symposium on "The Meaning of Vietnam." Some representative specimens are provided as an exercise in cultural anthropology. Noam Chomsky stated that the U.S. government was defeated in Indochina but only bruised at home. Sheldon S. Wolin stated that Vietnam and other experiences of recent years signify not only a different future but a different past.
