ABSTRACT
The article comments on a discussion regarding cardiac troponin determination in amniotic fluid by V. Stefanović and M. Loukovaara published in the 2005 issue of "Croatia Medical Journal." It infers that there are differences in the developmental expression of cardiac troponin T and I. It also asserts a non-significant negative correlation between erythropoietin concentration and cardiac troponin T.

The prevalence of anemia in geriatric patients is high. With some variation in different patient cohorts, prevalence of anemia can reach 40%. Anemia is not an age-related disease on its own, but is a symptom with multifactorial genesis and high risk potential. It directly influences mortality,...

Background. The conversion of patients on stable epoetin therapy to darbepoetin alpha is usually carried out according to the ‘1 µg darbepoetin = 200 U epoetin’ rule, which is based on the protein content of the two compounds. Since several observations have...

This study aimed to investigate the effect and potential mechanisms of exogenous administration of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) on retinal angiogenesis in a mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR). Adaptations to chronic hypoxia involve changes in membrane transport proteins. The underlying mechanism of this response may be related to concomitant occurring changes in erythropoietin (Epo) levels. We therefore tested the direct effects of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEpo) treatment...
