"Temperament" means the individual patterns of behavioral style of the child i.e., developmental traits somewhat different from intelligence, language, perceptual ability, and related "cognitive" capacities and functions. Temperament differences among children are often totally attributed to faulty child rearing, neglect, emotional turmoil, or other environmental or cultural influences. This essay is presented to encourage consideration of some biological, innate contributions to temperament qualities and traits.
