ABSTRACT
The article discusses issues related to the use of the word "holiday" instead of "Christmas" in marketing products especially intended for the Christmas season in the U.S. According to the author, foes of the alleged "War on Christmas" argued that retailers were waging nothing less than a War on Christmas by refusing to refer to the most corpulent selling season of the year in relation to the holiday that begat it. The author commented that the battle used to be waged against what was considered the crass commercialization of a holy day.
