ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance of Sears Holdings Corp., a newly formed combination of the former Kmart Corp. and Sears Roebuck & Co., for the third quarter of 2005 in the U.S. Sears Holdings has put up a profit of 58 million dollars, down almost 90 percent from last year. Sales at the retailer jumped 175.7 percent, to 12.2 billion dollars from 4.4 billion dollars, as Kmart layered on 8 billion dollars in Sears' sales since the March acquisition. Overall sales at Sears fell 6.3 percent and same-store sales plunged 10.8 percent.
