ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the Armed Islamic Group which was founded in Algeria in 1992. The goal of the group is to establish a fundamentalist Islamist government in the country. Rachid Abou Tourab and Antar Zouabri are the key leaders of the Armed Islamic Group. The group was blamed for deaths of more than 400 people who were killed on the first night of Ramadan in four villages on January 6, 1994.
