ABSTRACT
This article presents news briefs related to learning disability. One of the snippets report that the Convention Committee of the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities has announced a call for papers and symposia for the 1970 annual convention to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel, February 12-14, 1970. The submission deadline for symposia and papers is September 15, 1969. For film presentations and exhibits, the closing date is October 15, 1969. Another snippet presents information on the Ford Foundation that has awarded grants to the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, New Jersey, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Palo Alto, California. A $1.5 million grant to the Princeton Institute will be used to greatly expand its operations. As currently envisioned, social science research will focus on two themes: the study of social change and the study of problems that relate to organization, communication and decision within the social unit. The social change program will combine the interests of the Institute's historians with those of other social science disciplines in an effort to ascertain how social change occurs and the determinants of its pace and direction. The second program will study the social unit and how it absorbs, processes and uses information.
