ABSTRACT
The article presents a couple of tips for gears to be used in exploring rivers in Alaska. In packing for expedition river trips, do not omit essential items because of weight or space. Instead, examine each item and reduce it to its smallest bulk. Leave the lawn chairs and hardback novels at home. If planning to do much lining or portaging, travelers must bring gears that are easy to carry. Waterproof bags with backpack straps, kitchen boxes with two handles for carrying, and 5-gallon plastic buckets with lids make life easier when portaging.
