ABSTRACT
The article describes a program that allows students at Nord-Trndelag University College in Levanger, Norway to become acquainted with education systems and environments through short-term first-hand experience abroad. It is noted that the solution for the language barrier based on content design has been found to be satisfactory. The length of absence from subject courses taught at home is limited, coincides with the regular practice period at home, and does not disrupt or lengthen the course of study. Students have considerable responsibility and a role in planning their practice period in a way that encourages independence and also satisfies quality control requirements; and it is set in a framework intended to promote maximum benefit to the student, to the schools visited and to the home institution.
