TO KNOW LIST 1: A blizzard of green awaits baseball's free agents

McNeal, Stan
December 2005
Sporting News;12/9/2005, Vol. 229 Issue 49, p4
The article presents a forecast on contracts signed by baseball's free agents. In 2006 free agents are likely to end up with plenty of money to spend. There won't be any $252 million deals, which baseball player Alex Rodriguez got in 2000, but then again, there aren't any Rodriguezes available. There are, however, plenty of solid players set to receive star-type contracts. Baseball players Ramon Hernandez and Bengie Molina could land deals similar to the four-year, $40 million contract baseball player Jason Varitek got from the Red Sox in 2003.
