Wallace: from wannabe to wonderful

December 2005
Sporting News;12/16/2005, Vol. 229 Issue 50, p44
The article presents information on the professional career of basketball star Gerald Wallace. The medical staff in Charlotte, North Carolina, is tired of patching this guy up. It's a little more than a month into the season, and Wallace has been treated for a chip fracture in his wrist and a concussion. Rick Adelman, Wallace's coach with the Kings from 2001-04, once observed that Wallace falls on the floor harder than anyone he has ever seen. The Charlotte Bobcats' high flyer also might be the best player nobody knows about because he fits that well-worn prototype of the wannabes: late first-rounder who came out too early, thin as broom straw, languished at the end of a great team's bench for three years, finally got a chance to play with a growing team.
