Sometimes, 'sorry' doesn't cut it

December 2005
Sporting News;12/16/2005, Vol. 229 Issue 50, p41
The article reports on Tennessee Titans coach Phillip Fulmer recently sending a letter to season-ticket holders, apologizing for the way the Vols played this season and promising to right the ship. The Vols had Rose Bowl talent and couldn't beat SEC tomato can Vanderbilt to secure bowl eligibility. Fulmer fired three offensive assistants to begin the healing. He should have told season-ticket holders he was instructing the Tennessee administration to deduct 10 percent of his salary for 2006 because he and his staff didn't get a team of stars to play to its potential in 2005.
