The article reports that consumers are going to home improvement centers for their household needs. According to a survey conducted by the National Hardware Show and the Home Improvement Research Institute, consumers make 67 percent of purchases at home centers and 8 percent at hardware stores. The study also uncovered purchasing links between categories. Homeowners commonly buy hardware and hand tools with paint products, lumber and building materials, and electrical supplies. They also usually buy power tools with lumber.
