ABSTRACT
The article reports on the discrepancy in the data released by the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) and other health services research firms concerning patient satisfaction trends in 2005. The ACSI suggestions of sharply declining attitudes are contrasted with several reports of steady increases in patient satisfaction. Questions are raised regarding the origins of the data gap and calls for increased investigation are given.
