ABSTRACT
This article discusses the efforts of publisher Wenner Media to call for proposals from several advertising agencies. The agencies included Arnold Communications and Carmichael Lynch. According to Wenner vice president-group publisher John Berg, the efforts were set up to get the best possible agency and to do it in the fastest possible time given. When the company tried to update the image of its Rolling Stones brand in 1984, because of clever campaigns, the brand reached cult status, despite receiving only two proposals from thirty sent requests.
