ABSTRACT
This article discusses the plans of advertising agency McCann-Erickson North America to merge its San Francisco, California office with fellow advertiser Anderson & Lembke in 1999, following the completion of its merger with the U.S. Windows account of software developer Microsoft Corp. Microsoft, which was previously held by advertiser Wiedon & Kennedy, switched to McCann after hearing their sales pitch. The Microsoft account is a significant one for McCann, which lost clients such as AT&T Corp. and Safeway Stores since November, 1998.
