The article presents information on 2005's Bathurst 1000 car race held in October 2005. The cars hit the track for the first time and focus was firmly on which team'll be the first to break 300km/h. With the new 3.15 diff ratio, the Supercars had a higher top speed along Conrod straight. The shootout was a real anti-climax, the inconsistencies in track conditions meant most drivers tip-toed around the dry-wet track. Under FIA rules, fireproof underwear is mandatory, but the searing heat in Adelaide meant drivers would have fried inside their cars.
