ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a race between a bike, Yamaha R1, and Shane Brewer's Gemballa GT600, the fastest accelerating car ever tested. The bike was ridden by gun privateer Robbie Bugden, the first privateer to win an Aussie Superbike race in 205. V8 Supercar driver Warren Luff was called to steer the car. Luff was beaten after two laps by just 3.1 seconds. Their flying laps were more even, the Gemballa's 1:17.8 just 1.6 off the Yamaha's 1:16.2 in front of a huge bike crowd.
